My name is Todd Allen Senters, Jr., but most know me simply as TJ.  I am 17-years-old and I am a Junior at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Music with Honors in Piano Performance through the Mary Morgan Moore Department of Music and the Reaud Honors College. I am presently studying classical piano in the studio of Dr. Jacob Clark. I play trumpet in the Lamar University Marching Band (The Showcase of Southeast Texas,) and I play euphonium in the University (Concert) Band. I also accompany Lamar’s major ensembles on piano, as needed.

In addition to being a music major, I have an added concentration in Pre-Medicine. I anticipate completing my undergraduate work in May of 2020, following which I hope to attend medical school in Texas, Preferably at The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. I then hope to attend a general surgery residency with the ultimate goal of becoming a Cardiothoracic Surgeon.

I began my undergraduate studies at Lamar in the fall of 2015, at the age of 15, through the Texas Academy of Leadership in the Humanities. I graduated from TALH in May of 2017. I was inducted into both the National Junior Honor Society and the National Honor Society, and was a Texas-State Scholar through the Duke University Talent Identification Program. I was recognized as a Presidential Scholar in both Middle School and High School. While in High School, I participated in an invitation-only residential STEM camp, and on multiple math and science competition teams.

I have earned 8 Division-I (Superior) ratings at UIL Solo and Ensemble, 6 of which were performances rated as Class-I difficulty (most difficult,) including 4 Division-I ratings on solo piano, and 2 Division-I ratings on piano with a jazz band. While in Middle School, I earned Division-I ratings on two Class-II solos, on piano and trumpet. I twice earned Silver Medal designation at UIL Texas State Solo and Ensemble (out of two performances.) In addition, I have given numerous recitals and performances, including the Brilliance X Young Artist’s Showcase.

Aside from my interests in music and medicine, I am an avid amateur bird photographer. I am also an Eagle Scout.
